Site Transition Announcement
Many of you are aware that Q has wanted to turn the operations of the site over to someone else, and after all the tireless hours he has contributed, who could blame him. His main criteria in making the decision was how the site would be managed by the new owner. He insisted the site remain independent of those with any vested interests, other than to continue his goal to grow this sport. We will do everything we can to continue to earn his, and your trust as we move toward improvements to accomplish this goal. Most of you probably know that I (Scott Hughes) was working on acquiring Powerchutes.com. I didn’t have the expertise to run it and was very nervous about how much time, money, and expertise it would take to keep it going. Then along came Tommy McJunkins. Tommy has agreed to use his expertise in the web development field to insure that the site stays true to its main goal. As a way to introduce us let me begin with myself. I have been heavily involved with the sport for the past three years. I did take my first flight in a PPC back in the early eighties. Unfortunately I got side tracked with Skydiving and GA flying. We share “Q’s” philosophy in that it really doesn’t matter what anyone flies, because we all end up with a huge smile on our face when we fly. I believe that it is important to help each other. That is why I was one of the first if not the first to sign up on the independent instructor list. I just want the industry to grow, and share my love affair with the sky. It reminds me so much of the skydiving industry 15/20 years ago. We to can make flying PPC’s a mainstream sport through cooperation with each other. Coming up with better, and better training methods, etc. It is to the advantage of manufacturers, organizations, dealers, and trainers to cooperate with each other, to come up with minimal standards, and a unified marketing approach to expose this sport to the general public. With all that being said I must tell you that I am going to fade off into the background, and leave the site in the capable hands of Tommy. Now let me let Tommy introduce himself. Scott Hughes ************************************************************************* I purchased my first PPC in December of 2000, have grown to love flying my machine, and been pleasantly surprised by the kind of people involved in flying them. I look forward to keeping the site independent, and centered around everyone's needs. The transition of moving the site from Q's server to ours took place Friday, June 8, 2001, and we should be complete, and current with all links, ads, etc. If you find any errors, links, or information that needs to be updated, please email us at info@powerchutes.com I look forward to your suggestions, and will be working to incorporate them as soon as possible. Please consider taking the time to send a thank-you email for his tireless efforts to Q at powerchutes@bendcable.com. Those of us in the powerchutes world can't say enough for the contribution he continues to make in our sport.
